Well being by myself the last couple of months in the process of finding a new job related to software development and/or R&D activities with the use of the OpenCV library and not seeing something similar in the forum, except some individual advertisements, I am opening this thread. Considering that this is the official forum regarding the OpenCV library and there are quite a bunch of companies and institutes out there which perform, others more and others less, research and software development based on the OpenCV library I think that it would a nice idea to have a separate thread only for that reason.

To give a more clear idea of what this thread I would like to be, I would expect companies, startups, institutes or/and even individuals users to announce/publish, here under this thread in an post, career opportunities, job openings, internships, project openings which are related with the OpenCV library. More specifically in this posts I would like to see some description of the position (e.g. requirements, responsibilities, qualifications needed, contact information, location, etc...) and/or a link to a correspondent alternative from the site of the company or elsewhere. Moreover, it would nice to provide a short of description about the company and what it is about and to whom you can contact for further info or whatever. Then under this post's announcement and within the ability that the comments service gives us, a "show interest" procedure could happen where the users, of this forum and not only, that are interested could ask questions related to the position, and in general interact with the person/company that initiated the post. Then when the position is filled it could be marked as solved from the post starter or whoever is responsible for it or it could be deleted in general.

Any other ideas, feedback, opinions are more than welcome. I think that it is a nice approach since both users/job seekers and companies will have the opportunity to search/publish respectively straight forward to the source and not somewhere in the internet. I think that this would also be a good step in order to collect and group all the different companies that are related with the OpenCV library.

Furthermore, I do not know how it sounds to the mods and to the founders of this forum but I would like to hear their opinion as well. Moreover, if they think that it does not match with the library's philosophy or the forum's and community's environment here then feel free to delete the thread and report it as not related. On the other hand, if you think that this is a nice idea, then the first step it could be done from the ItSeez which are the official developers of the OpenCV library and I see in their website that they have some job openings :-p.

With the best intensions,

@theodore

really nice idea !

That might indeed be a nice idea to combine efforts and make something together, but I guess most of us are to busy with their actual jobs and personal projects to just take something extra. But go ahead and group up! Let me know if you want any input!

Hello @theodore,

Thank you very much for this topic. Afaik it is not prohibited to post job related inquiries here on the forum. Me myself I have done multiple consultancy jobs purely based on questions asked here or jobs being posted here so I do think that we could use the forum for that.

However it might be interesting to make some kind of sticky topic for this (will ask if this forum software supports this) because the main disadvantage is that people do not use this forums search function enough. So new topics will keep popping up on and on.

As to the content of jobs being posted here, I do like how @DMc showed interest in this, but it might be good to infer some rules, on the content that needs to be posted at least if you have a job available.

Maybe interesting for everyone, computer vision online has a page dedicated to computer vision related job openings, right here and also on their linked-in page.

BTW, my experience is that industry is still growing related to computer vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence. It might be interesting to look for research positions?

hey, @StevenPuttemans thanks for the nice feedback indeed if we can manage to have this topic as a sticky one (I think other topics should be like that as well, e.g. FAQ, etc..) it would be great since it will be all the time on top of the other threads and therefore easy accessible from the members and not only, plus I think that in this way it will get the attention of the companies/institutes as well.

Regarding the rules I agree that should be an order and control of what it is published/announced/advertised since it can be easily loose control of what is posted and I think some part of my initial post could be a start and a lead to that subject.

Moreover, I would like to thank you for the last part of your post I appreciate the help and the links that ...(more)

them still the effort of someones to help should recognised and believe I do :-). As for the position that I am searching for to be honest I am open to research positions as well, but let's see. So, yup thanks again Steven ;-).

Hello, Excellent idea to be able to post project openings to the Guru's circle.

We are looking for a CUDA and OpenCV programmer to help us fine tune /optimize and add GPU to the application, which is a conveyor based colour sorter machine. Right now, the functioning prototype, all is running on CPU/Win 7 achieving 6-8 ms of code execution on images H 500 x W 1388 Pixels @ 30 FPS, 1.1m/sec belt speed. Target objects to be detected smallest 15 x 15 Pixels. At this point only color based sorting with user set values of HSV range. UI built with Qt tool set.

As we are a start-up, interns are welcome too to apply-but only who are local to San Francisco Bay Area where the development happens; programming is done telecommuting.

Username can be reached [email protected]

Bests, Pavel.

My company develop Solutions to create customized Photobook Solutions. Some years ago we integrated a Third Party SDK to analyse a set of images to do the following:

Analyse if images show the same or similar objects/scenery How many faces are on the image if any (only the number) Analyse the image and rate the quality of the image (sharpness, noise, contrast). The result was each image was rated regarding quality and group the images that show same/similar objects. WE use this input to create automatic photobooks for example.

We looking now for a software developer with OpenCV Experience that develop for us / with us this from scratch, because i do not think there existing ready-to-go SDKs doing this. Enviroment would be C/C++ for use on Windows/Mac/Linux as part of a Qt Framework Solution.

Did anyone interest to work with us on that as part of a contract? If you are interested contact [email protected]

best regards

Frank

We have an opportunity for an OpenCV Developer to help us solve a problem and potentially be a "go-to" person for future development requirements. We'd like to hear from YOU if this is something you can help us resolve!

We are a small drone-imagery analysis company in Colorado Springs working with Precision Agriculture flyers to service the farming communities. One of our challenges is to mosaic LARGE numbers of images (>1000) after we've analyzed them. And our process is not working :( so here's a little of where we are in the process....

The goal is to stitch a set of unordered images obtained from an aerial platform to create a single image.

Additional Information

The images do contain pitch, roll and yaw information (but can be assumed to be shot nadir) and they also contain geo coordinates. This information gets us close to a solution, but the sensors are not accurate enough to form a good looking result (Some of the individual images appear to be positioned up to 5 yards from their actual position when compared to either each other or to a ground control image. The images are also not rotationally oriented to each other correctly. Again, this varies, but appears to be off by up to 15 degrees in some cases).

Software

The application is written in c++ using OpenCV for the image processing, SBA (sparse bundle adjust) libraries for final BA, and Gdal for conversion from JPEG to geotiff.

The Approach

I have tried many things so far, but this is what seems to get me the closest results:

Load in the camera intrinsic values. Perform feature matching using SURF. Obtain the estimated Homography between images 1 and 2 using Open CV methods, including RANSAC to remove outliers from the matches. Extract the Rotations and Translations from the Homography and project the image using Image Warp functions. Blend the images

As I mentioned, the results are close, but still noticeable errors in the rotation and translation between the images.

I am assuming a bundle adjustment should “fix” the images, but I have not been able to see this functionality work correctly. The OpenCV Bundle Adjust is for rotations only, so I have been researching using another library that should correct for rotation and translations. So far, the results are worse than pre-bundle adjustment, so I am currently trying to figure out this library. The version I have expects a set of 3D object points, and 2 sets of image points. I have been making an assumption the image is planer, and setting the z-values for the object points to 1 (I don’t have a DEM to work from. The image is of a football field and is pretty flat, so I am assuming this assumption should work. However, it is also possible the assumption is incorrect, so figuring out a bundle adjustment for just the 2D points in the image would be acceptable at this time.

Problems

Need to figure out if ... (more)
