Hi, i'm looking for advice to improve the detection and tracking of the face from an input video frame. i'm looking to make markerless AR so that i should know the limits of opencv uses. thank you in advance.

Have you tried to use GPU possibilities of OpenCV? According to referenced doc the Viola-Jones face detector could be 6 times faster on GPU than on CPU.
