compatibility with embedded systems

Is openCV compatible with NattyNarwhal (Linux 11.04)??? or what embedded system would be the optimal to run it on, and that doesn't uses a lot of the resources...

Yes, OpenCV compatible with Ubuntu Linux distributions. Also, You can cross compile it for embedded device. There is ready cross compile toolchain for cmake for Arm Linux in platforms/linux folder in source code.
