Cheap hd camera for still pictures

Hi All,

I am looking for a good budget option for taking still picture (so a webcam can work, but is not required - and I don't need high fps) - there are a few 1080p webcams out there for a decent price (eg: c920 or even older c615 which can be found used). Another option is the Raspberry Pi camera module (5mp), but it connects to a raspberry pi, which limits the cpu... (see https://thinkrpi.wordpress.com/2013/0...)

Are there any camera that can be controled via usb and allow to take high res still pictures ? (I saw many Chinese webcams claiming to do 12M+ but I doubt this is the native resolution...)
