2.4.9 Native Android camera S4 still doesn't work

Hi all,

The latest bug fixes in the release for OpenCV android 2.4.9 are supposed to fix the native camera for many phones. I have tried the latest release (with latest Manager) on my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone with 4.4 KitKat and am still getting the same errors as before.

Fatal signal 11 (SIGSEGV) at 0x00000000 (code=1), thread 12687 (.NativeActivity)

I have tried compiling with static libraries also but this makes no difference. I was testing on both the NativeActivity and CameraPreview (which works in java only).

Has anybody had any luck with this new version of openCV on android? Or perhaps I have still missed something. Alexander Smorkalov has checked off bug reports on Galaxy S3 and Note3 which you would think were very similar, and this fix is supposed to be one of the big fixes for this android version http://code.opencv.org/projects/opencv/wiki/ChangeLog

This fault is driving me crazy! Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards, Steve

Looks like others are still having similar issues even on the Note3 and S3. http://code.opencv.org/issues/3542#note-5

Hi,

I can confirm this problem with a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.4.2 and OpenCV Manager 2.4.8 (2.4.9 not available in the Android market at the time of writing).

Best, Jens

Hi jensgrubert,

Additionally, I still get the bug with the opencv manager for 2.4.9 supplied with the library. Hopefully there will be a solution soon.

Kind Regards, Steve

I still have the same error with Sony Xperia Z (running KitKat 4.4.2 ) while trying to compile the face detection example from OpenCv 2.4.9 , are there any fixes yet for this problem ?
