Detecting hand in front of face (occlusion)

Hello,

Is there a way for me to detect with reasonable accuracy whenever a hand or some other object comes between a face that is being tracked by say a webcam and the camera? I'm not super familiar with OpenCV and this whole field so apologies if this is an obvious question. Thanks!
