[Legal] Use of opencv Library for Commercial use
Dear Opencv users,
I've developed a solution using opencv and pycharm to monitor, control, assure quality on a production line for a company I'm working for. My manager is happy with the idea, however it comes down to legalities of "licensing"my solution with my employer.
This is an industrial type solution with good accuracy and fast processing time of around 15,000-25,000 products per hour using off the shelf camera, free Linux OS and I will be buying commercial PyCharm license for this project once the budget is approved.
I would like to know what legal laws are required to adhere to (in UK/EU) regarding such solution, both for safety of my current employer, myself and furthermore my own research for a company start up with the use the library in the near future?
Thanks. Tom
it's BSD licensed. please try to read it.
Hi berak,
Thanks for the answer, yes I did look into it. Legally I can download if I'm willing to take the risk for whatever I want to use it on, however there is no mention towards and kind of fees, licensees related to the benefit of using the library for profit making purpose.
I'm just trying to figure out a long term legal liability related to use of OpenCV library and possible license change in the future.
there are no fees ..
very unlikely (it has been like this since the beginning)
