OpenNI with depth camera other than kinect

H Hello everybody,

I want to get depth and color images from a depthcamera other than kinect (depthsense 325 from softkinetic). I have searched the forum and I found the this tutorial link text

It said that I should install PrimeSensor Module for OpenNI. However, if I use another depthcamera other than kinect, should I install this file ? Moreover, can I follow the instruction in that link ?

If you guys have any recommendations, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I had the same problem I tried with the openni but I didn't understand that kind of code is to crazy in my point of view.

The alternative that I have found, is openkinect, there are drivers and a library. With this code you can get the both images:

#include "libfreenect.hpp"
#include <iostream>
#include <vector>
#include <cmath>
#include <pthread.h>
#include <cv.h>
#include <cxcore.h>
#include <highgui.h>

using namespace cv;
using namespace std;

class Mutex {
public:
    Mutex() {
        pthread_mutex_init( &m_mutex, NULL );
    }
    void lock() {
        pthread_mutex_lock( &m_mutex );
    }
    void unlock() {
        pthread_mutex_unlock( &m_mutex );
    }
private:
    pthread_mutex_t m_mutex;
};

class MyFreenectDevice : public Freenect::FreenectDevice {
  public:
    MyFreenectDevice(freenect_context *_ctx, int _index)
        : Freenect::FreenectDevice(_ctx, _index), m_buffer_depth(FREENECT_DEPTH_11BIT),m_buffer_rgb(FREENECT_VIDEO_RGB), m_gamma(2048), m_new_rgb_frame(false), m_new_depth_frame(false),

Thanks so much. But could you please tell me what is "openkinect" ? And can I use that code with my depthsense 325 ?
