OpenCV Error: Gpu API call in superres sample code

When I run superres_test.cpp from OpenCV 2.4.5 under VS 2010, Windows 8, I get this error:

I am running this on a laptop with a NVIDIA Quadro K2000M GPU (capability 3.0)

Any ideas on how to debug this?
